3-10-05 - NEW YORK (AP) Former President Clinton was whisked through a side entrance into a New York hospital Thursday morning for surgery.

Doctors are to clear fluid and scar tissue from his chest. Before Clinton arrived, a security detail conducted a sweep of walkways and corridors. The problem is tied to his heart surgery last year.

The surgery is considered low risk and is set to take place this morning.

Across the street from the hospital people were wishing the former president good luck.
One restaurant manager says "I pray to God that he is well, that he comes out healthy."
