03-11-05 – A body, dead for over month, was found near Regional Park in Ardmore Friday afternoon. Two fishermen made the gruesome discovery of Lon Chaney after spending the afternoon on the city lake. The discovery solved a missing person’s case from Louisiana. If not for the fishermen, Chaney may not have been discovered for some time.
Troopers believe the 76-year-old Chaney suffered a heart attack before driving 1200 feet off I-35 into the brush. His body was badly decomposed and was identified by a driver’s license in his wallet.
Chaney had been missing since February 10th when he never returned to Louisiana after making a delivery in Elk City.
