1-26-05 – As the country mourns the loss of an American icon, a local man remembers his encounter with Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show. Gene Rader of Paris played in 14 movies, but says it is that night he remembers most.

He was spotted by the show in Star Magazine, and on January 2nd, 1986, Gene made the trip to Hollywood as the small town man who made it onto the silver screen. However, Paris, Texas was the topic of conversation even more so than his movie career.

When he heard of Carson’s death, Rader said it took his breath away, but he will forever be thankful for having the time of his life and meeting the legendary host on The Tonight Show.
