3-16-05 - Less than 2 months after Sherman landed the Tyson deal, economic leaders have a new project that could add local jobs. It’s known as Project Summer – designed to lure an industrial company to the city.
Officials with the Sherman Economic Development Corporation won’t release any details about the company of the number of jobs it could create, but did say Sherman is competing with one city in another state.
Tyson is moving forward in its plan to open a new casing plant in Sherman by early next year. They have already hired a plant manager, and with the help of Workforce Texoma, they’re looking to hire their upper management team. Once the managers are hired, they'll start hiring hundreds of employees.
Right now workers are fixing the roof. Once that is completed, they will start on the refrigeration process.
