Students Protest Resignation

Video will be available shortly.

1-28-05 – Students in Silo stood out in the cold rain for two hours Friday morning in protest to the resignation of Superintendent Wendell Peoples. Peoples reached a mutual agreement with the school board to resign.

Despite warnings that students skipping school to protest would risk suspension, about 40 students began to gather at 7:30 am to pay tribute to Peoples. None of them were suspended, but Peoples tried to end the protest by telling the students to go back to class and that the fight was over.

School board members questioned Peoples leadership, but complimented the job he did as superintendent. He will remain in the position until the end of the school year.
