03-17-05 – Record high oil prices are forcing many school districts to adjust their budgets. Denison ISD is estimating that they will be at least $8,000 over their budgeted amount of $81,000 for the year.
Denison Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says the crunch is forcing the school district to cut down on non-essential travel, which includes personal travel and non-district sporting events.
Despite the cutbacks, Scott insists that no bus routes will be sacrificed and that students will still be able to make it to and from school like they did before.
Denison’s budget for fuel is estimated to around $100,000 for the next school year.
