3-22-05 – Amidst the controversy surrounding Terry Schiavo, an Ardmore family is dealing with a similar situation. Kerri Collins suffered brain damaged when she was hit by a car at the age of seven. Now 26, her mother says she is proof that everyone deserves to live.
Kathy Collins has taken care of her daughter since the accident and says that two years ago she reacted to a touch on the left side of her body, and can now move her right arm.
However, local doctors in Ardmore fear that living in such a state could hurt a life more than it helps. They say victims could be suffering from pain that no one else sees since they cannot talk or move.
