GARVIN COUNTY, Okla. -- A nine-year-boy is dead after an ATV accident Sunday afternoon in Garvin County. Troopers say it happened about one today on a private road about two miles west of I-35 and Highway 7 in Garvin County.

Troopers say Colton Keith Green of Davis was driving the Yamaha 350 ATV. They say the boy was driving down a hill and hit a broadside. The vehicle rolled and pinned the child underneath.

He was taken to Arbuckle Memorial in Sulphur where he was pronounced dead.

Frankly it really doesn't matter if the child was on a ATV, a passenger in a car, or playing on the sidewalk; we all need to realize that sometimes its just our time to leave this world whether we are 2, 9, 21, or 50.

How many children have to die from ATV's, Waverunners, etc, before something is done? My prayers go out to the family.

Right know is not the time to place blame, or say the ATV was too big, not enough gear, parent supervision, etc. I'm sure if the family could go back things would be different. Shame on those who would place blame. To the family: So sorry for your loss, anytime a child is lost the whole community is affected. Accidents are just that ,accidents. No one is to blame. God bless your family.

1streponder I really don't care how much gear you put on a child if the ATV is is large it will kill the child or hurt them really, I feel so sorry for this family my prayers go out to them, I had a cousin that rode a dirt bike and he was wearing his helmet and to make a long story short he is paralized now and cannot walk

Our families thoughts and prayers go out to Colten's family. We too lost our 9 y/o nephew in a atv accident, just under 2 years ago.It is always a struggle when you lose someone but when they are that young and have their whole lives ahead of them it is that much more devastating. One thing that really helped Bubba's friends was having a counsler on hand at school to talk to,it really helped them cope.I would like to know where the services are being held so I can send flowers.once again my deepest prayers and condolences to this family and their friends! May God bless you & help u in your time of need!

It surprises me at all the negative thoughts to the parents over the large ATV! Davis has lots of rural areas and yes my children ride ATVs that are a size larger but they are always fully protected gear wise. There was parental supervision when Colton had his accident. It was extremely hard for all of us on that scene to see Colton, especially his dad. We lost a very special person of our community.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire community on this. Colton was an outstanding young man. He frequented our fire station very often with his dad who is a volunteer firefighter here. I can not express or start to tell you the wonderful thoughts that this young man has left on our hearts and minds. Colton will be sorely missed but never ever forgotten. His presence was felt everytime he was around , and I will personally never forget the times I was blessed to be around him. God bless this family. I can speak for all the Davis firefighters in saying we are here for you, and will always love you.

Sorry to hear that you have lost a very important part of your life. May God Bless you and your family. My prayers go out to the Green family and also the young boys and girls that were friends with this young man. I know that it is hard for them also I lost two friends last year.

I too like many others have ATV's for my kids....Tragic Accidents like this happen quiet often to kids simply because there is no adult supervision....and adults providing an ATV that is simply just to much for the kids to handle. My thought and prayers go out to this family during their time of loss.

i let my kids ride but they have to use protection and i i only let them ride what they can handle it is asd to here about the child dieing but this is why you need to be 16 to ride this happens yearly a 350 was way to big for him to be on and we should all take note and next time you let your kids go ride on a atv ask about it dont just say ok when you buy a atv you can take a free class my thoughts and prayers are with the family
