McCURTAIN COUNTY, Okla. -- Officers say a fatal shooting in McCurtain County Tuesday morning may have been done in self defense.

The victim, Teddy Jacob, 39, is dead after he was shot four to five times.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials say it happened in Golden, Oklahoma, between Broken Bow and Idabel.

The victim was shot at the suspect’s home, who was the victim's brother-in-law.

The suspect's name is not being released because he has not been charged.

Police officials say it appears the shooting was in self-defense.

I too do not understand how someone who is forced to defend their life is a suspect and the violent assailant a victim (a victim of their own insanity maybe). For those that wonder why the assailant did not stop attacking after being one shot one time. It would be because this is not a movie, a bang a dribble of blood and fall down dead. That is just not it happens in the real world. I once saw a man shoot eight times once in the heart. It still took five officers to restrain him and still he lived. Human beings can survive horrific injuries. Especially someone who is enraged pumped full of adrenaline and who knows what kind of drugs.

You got it backwards. The suspect is the dead guy. The victim is the guy who shot the suspect in self defense.

ok, he was shot 4 to 5 times, not to mention had about 14 cuts/abrasions that wasn't mentioned in the report. yes, i do know for a fact because i am related to him. what i don't and can not understand is why it took so many gunshots and so many stabs/cuts to stop him if he is truly claiming self-defense.This is ridiculous...self-defense i don't agree with, more like MURDER and RAGE. I hope charges are filed and he is prosecuted and that this horrendous crime is not just let go and filed away as "self-defense." It is called MURDER.

Yep, I see anti-gun bias here. The "victim" here is not the one that was shot if it is as the police say, self defense. Since the police say it appears the shooting was in self-defense, the shooter was the victim and the dead guy was the suspect.

did it actually take 4 to 5 shots to get him to back off? i think one should have held him off till the police got there???

I would also have to ask...Would the "Victim" not be the one that was attacked and the "suspect" be the one that initiated the attack? If there are no charges because of self defence...wouldn't Teddy be the "suspect" and the unnamed man be the "victim"?

As a Jewess in the US, I must say America wasn't won with a registered gun! All REAL Americans must put our 2nd Amendment FIRST!!!

How can there be a suspect if there are no charges? We still live in America where self-defense is legal. Why is there so much anti-gun bias in the media? I didn't know so many Socialists had invaded my home state. Is the author from the Peoples Republic of California or Soviet Socialist New York?
