Bond Issues, Council Seats Decided

Healdton's school bond issue passed, while Mill Creek's failed, in an election night that saw low voter turnout across the area.

88% of voters approved a $900,000 bond issue that will build a new high school in the Healdton district. Mill Creek was hoping for $1.6 million, but only 32% of the voters said yes.

In Ardmore, Lovel McMillin defeated Harold Julian for the commissioner at large position. McMillin won 757 votes to 403.

Dickson may not have an elected city clerk. Jackie Massey lost her seat to Tamara Mitchell, 44 votes to 21, but Mitchell no longer lives inside the city limits, which means she cannot hold office. The city trustees will likely choose someone to take her place.

In Durant, Jerry Tomlinson defeated Terry Jackson 310 votes to 170 for the Ward 1 council seat.
