4-06-05 – A Carter County deputy is thankful to have had a taser gun after a visitor at Murray State Park began punching other campers and then went after the deputy. Rickey Barber walked into an RV and hit a man in the face without provocation. A Carter County deputy was also attacked when he tried to help but used his taser gun to subdue Barber.

Park Rangers at Lake Murray do not have taser guns, but are looking into them after this incident.

Tasers has become a controversial weapon lately. A man in Fort Worth was recently killed after being hit with a taser gun.

Barber faces three different assault and battery charges. His victims suffered only bumps and bruises.
