4-9-05- A $30 million dollar school bond was defeated in Van Alstyne Saturday. More than one thousand voters turned out, but turned down the bond by a two-to-one margin.
The bond money would have gone to help build a new stadium in Van Alstyne as well as a new elementary school and to make improvements to the middle school.
School officials had hoped to build the new facilities as well as make improvements to the old ones in anticipation of their current needs as well as future growth.
School board members say it is time to go back to the drawing board.
