4-12-05 – More complaints were made about the area of highway 69/75 that stretches from Sherman to Durant after the latest accident on Tuesday. A mobile home transport vehicle making a wide right turn was clipped by a red Ford Escape. The drivers and nearby business owners say the lack of street lights and high speed limits are to blame.
The speed limit along 69/75 in Calera is 70 miles per hour. Sparky Bare, the driver of the mobile home transport, thinks that limit should be reduced.
There are also several median intersections along the stretch of highway. Such intersections are dangerous since many do not have much of a turn lane.
Nearby business owners say they have seen several accidents for years, but the state will not allow them to build entrance ramps that could help drivers.
