4-13-05 – Jeremiah Keel, 64, of Tishomingo was killed in an accident on highway 70 between Durant and Kingston Wednesday afternoon. Keel was a passenger in a truck driven by James Stallings, 65, also of Tishomingo, who OHP troopers say was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Witnesses say Stallings was swerving all over the highway before crossing over into the oncoming lane of traffic. Keel was pronounced dead at the scene. Stallings and the two men in the other vehicle were taken to a Durant hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

After being released from the hospital, Stallings was booked into the Bryan County Jail on 2nd degree murder charges.

Troopers say Stallings received two DUI’s in 1996 and 1997
