Escapee Sentenced to 15 Years

4-14-05 – A jail escapee has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a robbery in Grayson County. Joey Don Rucinski made headlines when he jumped from the roof of the Bryan County Jail in March. He was captured days later on March 23rd near Dorchester, Texas.

Wednesday, a Grayson County judge sentenced Rucinski for a November robbery in Sherman. The owner of a business on State Highway 56 caught Rucinski stealing. The man threatened the owner with a gun before running away. Rucinski was captured later in Bryan County and was awaiting extradition to Texas when he escaped.

As part of a plea deal, Rucinski also plead guilty to two counts of Possession of Methamphetamine.
