4-16-05 – The Child Abuse Task Force in Carter County held their annual Kids Day in the Park event to help children caught in the middle of the war on drugs. Local DHS agencies have seen 15 percent more kids this year, meaning they need money from the fundraiser more than ever.
Carter and Love County DHS agencies say drugs are to blame for the amount of kids they are seeing this year. Kids that are left needing foster homes after their parents are taken away for drug possession.
Over 3,000 people attended the event that raises money to get kids the emergency care they need, like clothes, medication and school supplies.
