Woman Celebrates a Century

4-17-05- She has seen 18 U.S. presidents, survived the Great Depression, and lived through many wars, dating back to World War I. On Sunday, Emma Bryan of Sherman made her own history, celebrating her 100th birthday.

Emma Bryan was born on April 17th, 1905. She has lived in Grayson County all of her life and she says it hasn't always been easy. Bryan has worked her entire life-- picking cotton, gathering corn, and bailing hay. She credits hard work for her long life.

Sunday, friends and family gathered at the Trinity Baptist Church in Sherman to celebrate Emma's birthday. Bryan is the oldest member of her congregation. She is also a great grandmother.
