ANTLERS, OK - Authorities say a man accused of murdering a Pushmataha County man in his home has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. The hearing for 49-year-old Robert Parsons has been pushed back so he can undergo a psychological evaluation.
Parsons is charged with first degree murder in the death of 77- year-old Garland Cogburn. Deputies say they found Cogburn dead in his Antlers home last November. Parsons confessed to hitting Cogburn in the head with a hatchet and then stealing his vehicle.
Parsons is scheduled to be back in court May 23 to determine whether he needs to be reevaluated.
