SOSU Softball Coach Charged With Assault

4-22-05- The head softball coach at Southeastern Oklahoma has been charged with assault. Coach Ron Faubian is accused of hitting the sports information director at the University of Central Oklahoma.

The incident reportedly took place last Saturday in between a double-header in Edmond.

School officials say they've received conflicting information about the altercation, but the Oklahoma County District Attorney's office has filed assault and battery charges on Coach Faubian.

An affidavit obtained by First News says Coach Faubian and the SID for UCO got into a verbal altercation in the Southeastern dugout, then Faubian hit him on the head.

The incident is now under review by school officials. For now, Faubian is still coaching and has not been arrested.

He is in his sixth year of coaching for the lady Savages. He is also the winningest coach in school history.
