Natural Gas Explosion Rocks Residents

4-24-05- A natural gas explosion rocked residents of Coal County out of their sleep early Sunday morning. A gas line exploded near Centrahoma around 2:00 a.m. No one was injured in the blast.

Residents in Coalgate, Tupelo, and Centrahoma all heard and felt the explosion. Natural gas experts say it is unusual for 30 inch pipes like this one to explode.

Fire departments from all three towns responded. The natural gas company is still investigating the cause of the explosion.
