To honor this week's A+ Athlete we head south to Howe, Texas, and meet Taylor Murray.

This week’s A+ Athlete is Taylor Murray from Howe High School. This five-sport senior has won practically every award possible since first stepping foot on Howe High School’s campus.

Murray has won first team all-district numerous times in both basketball and volleyball. She qualified for regionals in track in three different races, and for the last two years she's been an All-American nominee for cheerleading.

Did we mention she plays softball too? Howe sports won't be the same after she leaves.

Taylor has maintained a 4.7 grade point average on a 5-point scale. She's been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. She's the senior class president and still finds time to volunteer for Red Cross and Howe First Baptist Church. Even though Taylor does many times more than the average student, she remains humble about getting the award.

"I’m just happy I work hard enough to get it," Taylor says.

Next year she plans to attend either Oklahoma State University or Texas A&M University where she plans to study psychology or physical therapy.

Congratulations to Taylor Murray on being named this week’s A+ Athlete.

We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.

A+ Athletes….
--must be a senior..
--must be nominated through the student’s school district- not a parent.
