World Aerobatic Championships comes to Texoma for the first time in history

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- The North Texas Regional Airport is flying high after being selected to host the World Aerobatic Championships.

The 10 day event will take off next October. While the NTRA hosts the National Aerobatic Championships every fall this is the first time in the airport's history to host the worldwide event.

Airport Director Mike Shahan says about 60 competitors from 16 different countries will take part. Shahan says the U.S. only gets to host the competition every five years. He says the event will bring in hundreds of people and thousands of dollars to the local economy.
He says hotel expenses alone will bring in about $140,000 dollars.
