Heavy rainfall floods Sherman neighborhood

SHERMAN, TX-The rain is tapering off and flood waters are receding but this afternoon was a different story.
The 900 block of First street in Sherman was blocked off around 4 this afternoon because of rising water. Samantha Langley said people have been trying to drive through the standing water--even though it covered the road. Langley said they had to help a woman who got stuck driving through it just a few hours ago.
"The hard rain was what was adding it up real fast, it was out of nowhere. It was street to water up to my knees at the curb," she said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and ODOT reminds drivers that if water covers the road way "turn around, don't drown."
