Fans Proud of Local Country Star

4-27-05 – Fans of local country singer, Jason Meadows, gathered at Calera High School Tuesday night to find out if their home-spun hero would be the next Nashville Star.

Meadows fell just short of fishing as the runner up on the reality television show, but fans and friends say they are proud of the Calera native.

“He’s such a great role model for our kids,” said school teacher Vicki Anderson.

Eriko Jo, an 18-year-old high school senior from Tennessee, was named the winner of the USA network’s contest. She will receive a recording contract with Universal South Records.

Over ten million viewers voted in all 50 states for Tuesday night’s live broadcast.

Thousands auditioned to become the Nashville Star, but only ten finalists were selected for the show.
