World’s Largest Plane Takes Off

4-27-05 - BLAGNAC, France (AP) The world's largest passenger plane is back on the ground safely. It will eventually carry as many as 840 passengers. Today, it carried a crew of six -- and the hopes of the European aircraft-maker Airbus.

The airbus A-380 has completed its maiden flight of nearly four hours, but not before doing a slow fly-by over the airport in southwest France.

The plane carried a crew of six and more than 20 tons of on-board test instruments.

Nearly 30-thousand people came to watch the jet take off and land.
