4-27-05 - A Davis high school student is being called a hero for his efforts in fighting a fire at Falls Creek campground in the Arbuckles. A cabin at the church camp caught fire late Saturday night – but Jeremy Byers spotted it from the highway and went for help.
Jeremy then helped the facility manager fight the fire, which was on the west side of the camp, and keep it from spreading to other cabins.
The 17-year-old says he was just doing what was right. His good deed will be rewarded though – he’s been offered a job working for the maintenance department at the camp this summer.
The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire but suspects it may have been from electrical wiring.
