Convenience Stores Targeted in Sting

4-29-05 - Drugs are something most people associate with back-alleys. But Ardmore police are targeting convenience stores that they say aren’t helping the war on drugs. Twice in the past 24 hours, undercover officers have purchased drug paraphernalia from two convenience stores.

In both cases, the officer asked for a pipe to smoke meth or crack with – both times the clerks handed him glass pipe and in one case a brown paper bag with a pipe, lighter and scrub pad inside. Police say it was a kit for smoking crack.

Officers wrote $75 tickets for the misdemeanor violations at the Karry Out Korner off south Washington and the OK Stop on 12th street. Store owners refused to comment on the violations.
