5-4-05 – A near head-on collision in rural Carter County Tuesday afternoon kills one man and blocks Highway 7 for over four hours.
Troopers say a pickup, pulling a trailer, crossed the center line and collided with a four-door Buick driven by 35-year-old James Clayton Barker of Ada.
Barker was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver, Kevin Ensminger, was transported to a Duncan hospital where he was treated and released. OHP reports indicate driver inattention caused the accident.
Rescuers had to use a crane and two semi-trucks to clear the wreckage; the process blocked Highway 7 for four and a half hours.
