5-18-05 - LAS VEGAS (AP) Newlywed Kenny Chesney took home entertainer of the year honors at the annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
Chesney's win over leading nominee Tim McGraw came just eight days after his surprise marriage to actress Renee Zellweger, but he focused his speech on the fans, not his new wife.
McGraw had the top single and song for his hit "Live Like You Were Dying."
The haunting duet "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss also turned the double-award trick, winning for best video and best vocal event.
"Redneck Woman" newcomer Gretchen Wilson won for top new artist and female vocalist -- which had gone to Martina McBride each of the last three years.
Keith Urban won the top male vocalist award and the top album honor.
