4-19-05 - A small-town mayor in Texoma is under fire – accused of using city electricity to run his motor home. Residents in Thackerville noticed the extension cord running from Gary Reed’s RV to city hall yesterday.
When a First News crew asked Reed about it on Thursday, he said he was only using it to keep a refrigerator running. Reed unplugged the cord after that conversation.
One member of the city council was upset when he heard the news. John Ullmann said he didn’t know of Reed asking for permission from anyone in the city.
Reed insisted in an off-camera interview that he was only using the power temporarily while waiting for electricity to be hooked up at his RV.
The issue will be on the council agenda next month. At that time the council will decide whether to file a police report.
