5-19-05 - A southern Oklahoma lake is getting a good cleaning – under the water. Divers descended into Lake Murray on Thursday to pick up trash off the bottom of the lake.
Using a specially made lift, divers loaded crates filled with everything from cans to a bicycle. They were cleaning up an area off a dock at the Lake Murray Lodge. In all, they moved 500 pounds of trash off the bottom of the lake.
The dive was sponsored by the Ardmore Beautification Council and is part of the Great American cleanup that lasts from March until the end of May.
The lake is hosting another cleanup on June 25th, inviting divers from all over Oklahoma and Texas.
