5-10-05 - A former Carter County sheriff died Tuesday afternoon. Investigators suspect Bill Noland suffered a heart attack moments before his Suburban ran into another car and then a tree.

Sheriff from 1990 to 1996, Noland worked for the Noble Foundation at the time of his death. He ran unsuccessfully for sheriff in the Fall of 2004.

Ardmore police say Noland was westbound on the Sam Noble Parkway when witnesses say his SUV began careening across the road – sideswiping a Ford Explorer, then running 150 yards off the road and striking a tree. The wreck ended in front of the Noble Foundation.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 13th at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ardmore. A gravesite service will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery.

KXII is collecting e-mails from our viewers on their memories of Bill Noland and condolences to his family. Those well-wishes will then be passed along to his family. If you'd like to share your thoughts, send your message to firstnews@kxii.com
