5-24-05 - A man accused of killing a friend in a hunting accident last July in Johnston County has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The shooting happened near Wapanucka.
Demetrus Taylor from Broken Bow was hunting turtles in a pond when he turned the gun on 49-year-old Rex Pierce.
Taylor first told authorities it was an accident but pled guilty Monday to first degree manslaughter.
He'll have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, since it is considered a heinous crime.
