5-12-05 - Law enforcement officers from two states honored their fallen brothers outside the Carter County Sheriff’s department Thursday. The annual ceremony is a tribute to the 11 lawmen that lost their lives in the line of duty from 1920 to 1985.
Members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Carter County Sheriff’s Department as well as Ardmore, Gene Autry, and Healdton police departments were on hand.
But an officer from Leonard, Texas was there as well. Kimberly Dillard's father, Doug Durrington, was an officer in Healdton when he was killed during a high-speed chase. Kimberly has attended the memorial for the past 5-years. Her son graduates high school this month and will become the 3rd straight generation to join law enforcement.
