5-30-05 - A 15-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother were killed this holiday weekend in a tragic accident on I-35 in Cooke County. Troopers say the traffic congestion in the area is likely the cause.
15-year-old Vanessa Jacome and her 9-year-old brother Maximillion were stopped on the side of the interstate in a van along with 4 other family members. A 50-year-old Oklahoma driver hit the van from behind. Both children were wearing seatbelts but died from their injuries.
DPS Troopers say they cannot determine how fast the driver was going because the road was wet, leaving no skidmarks. The driver has not been ticketed.
