A retired Southeastern Oklahoma State University professor turned professional actor died Friday of cancer. Dennis Letts was 73 years old.

Dennis is so proud at this moment to know that Tracy has done so much!!!! Not only was Dennis a great teacher, he was a great friend and mentor. It shows no matter how backwoods and country people think southeastern Oklahoma is there is always gold which needs only to be mined. Knowing the Letts family was the gold I was able to mine because somehow I ended up in Durant. We had many great parties together....

Dennis Letts was an actor in 46 movies (see imdb.com). This was not mentioned. Billie Letts name was not mentioned. The names of his sons were not mentioned. He deserved a better article. I will miss being able to converse with him when he was at his wife's book signing (because he was very proud and devoted to her). My thoughts are with Billie Letts, Tracy, Shawn, and other members of the Letts family. At least something was written. Channel 10 didn't even mention his death.

I had Mr. Letts in class. He was great. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot as well. His family will be in my prayers.

It was my great pleasure and honor to know and work with fellow actor Dennis Letts in several films, including Where the Heart Is. I am enormously saddened by the death of a very special person and a very special friend.
