6-20-05 - Less than 9 months after the city of Sherman made “Retroplex” part of their logo, city leaders have voted to dump the slogan.
The brand has been placed over everything from bumper stickers to maps, but the city council voted unanimously to do away with it.
They adopted Retroplex last September after a $30,000 study. The money came from hotel-motel tax dollars. But the slogan didn’t catch on, and with a new ad campaign in the works for Sherman; Mayor Bill Magers put the issue on tonight's agenda.
The city will keep the logo – featuring the city’s name with red, white and blue lettering, but drop Retroplex from the title.
