This week’s A+ Athlete is Nick Stubbs from Denison High School. Nick has been on the varsity soccer team since his sophomore year, helping the Jackets reach 2nd place in the district with a 15-5 record. Nick has started in all 18 of those games, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists, and last year his soccer team named him ‘most improved player.’

Even after all his success, Nick remains a team player, and his coaches appreciate that

Nick is certainly a standout in the classroom as well. Nick maintains a 4.572 grade point average and is seventh out of 274 students in his class.. He participates in the Spanish Club, the Den-Teens and the U.S. Club. He has also earned a spot in the student council and National Honor Society.

With everything to keep up, Nick knows how to prioritize, and his hard work has paid off. He has been accepted to Texas A&M University, where he plans to study engineering.

Congratulations to Nick Stubbs on being named this week’s A+ Athlete.

We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
