Showers and a few thunderstorms will continue across Texoma today. Some of the storms may produce locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
6-10-05 – Volunteers at a Fannin County no-kill shelter say animal dumping, a common form of animal abuse, is on the rise. The Friends of Fannin County Critters say too many unwanted pets become victims and local shelters can’t keep up with the rising numbers of dumped animals.
The Bonham Police Department has recently started accepting unwanted pets. Police say they will take an animal to a shelter for anyone who needs the service.
Animal dumping is a Class A misdemeanor, but police say these kinds of cases are very difficult to prosecute because the pet dumpers are usually long-gone before the animals are discovered.
