Local Strongman Prepares for Comeback

6-24-05 – Oklahoma’s Strongest Man competition is coming up and a local champ will test his limits. Whit Baskin of Durant holds the world record in the car lift dead hold. Baskin set the record in 1999 at the world competition. He held up the back of a car for two minutes and eleven seconds. This year, Baskin is working on his comeback after a devastating car crash.

Four years ago, he was seriously hurt in a car accident. After years of speech therapy and physical therapy, Baskin is back in shape.

He is training for an exhibition in the Oklahoma competition which will take place in Broken Arrow.
