COMMERCE, Texas (AP) - Prosecutors are considering whether to seek a capital murder indictment against a man accused of killing an East Texas code enforcement officer.
Michael "PeeWee" Walker was shot to death yesterday as he followed up on a December complaint about trash in the yard of a Commerce residence.
22-year-old Adam Kelly Ward is being held in the Hunt County Jail on $2 million bond on a murder charge. He's set to appear in court tomorrow seeking a court-appointed attorney.
District Attorney F. Duncan Thomas says he's researching whether
it may be possible to seek a capital murder indictment because Walker was considered a public servant.
Funeral services for Walker are scheduled for Friday.
