Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
6-15-05 - The chief of police in Howe, Texas was at work Tuesday, but out of a job Wednesday.
Roy Keesy has served as Howe's police chief since 1999. But at Tuesday night's city council meeting he was fired with no explanation.
The decision was made by the council in executive session.
Other officers and volunteer fireman tell us it came as a complete surprise.
The council chose Sergeant Kenneth Price to take over the chief's duties. He has served as an officer for over 30 years.
Kenneth Price, said, “I was advised that I would essentially be placed in charge of the department until the council can arrange or set up what they want to do with the police department”
At this time, the mayor, city hall, and administrators are not commenting on the decision they've made.
