6-30-05 – Two people are fortunate to be alive after their SUV tumbled 50 feet down an embankment Thursday morning.
Troopers say a 16-year-old from Austin, Texas was driving north on Interstate 35 around 11:00 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, careened across the median into on-coming traffic, then flipped.
The SUV tumbled down a 50 foot embankment. The teenage driver and a female passenger climbed out of their SUV. Both were conscious and responding to paramedics when they were taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating if speed was the cause of the accident.
Traffic was slowed at mile marker 35 for a short time as rescuers cleared the scene.
