7-4-05 - BETHESDA, Md. (AP) The Fourth of July is prime time for people who make and sell fireworks, and this may be their most bang-up season in history.
The American Pyrotechnics Association is predicting record sales, due to heightened patriotism and also a more relaxed attitude on the part of states. The trade group says the sale of backyard fireworks is now legal in 45 states and the District of Columbia, the highest number ever.
The association's executive director, Julie Heckman, says the boom in business can mean a nice pop in income for sellers. Heckman says a fireworks stand can bring in up to 15 thousand dollars during the peak time.
