7-11-05 - A Sherman city councilman is taking a leave of absence to go to Iraq. Steve Jonse is volunteering to go for his company, a defense contractor. He'll work on a military base equipping support systems. He says some of his co-workers have been over there for six months, so he wants to give them a break.
Jonse will miss four city council meetings while he's in Iraq, but he says supporting the war on terror is worth it. Jonse will be gone for two months. Due to security concerns, his employer and date of departure are not being released.
