6-12-05 – Pottsboro Police are investigating a case of elderly neglect. A 65-year-old man was found stuck in a ditch on Texas St. Monday afternoon. He was a quadriplegic, diabetic, and had apparently been without food and water for days.
Charles Hobbs, a nearby resident, spotted the man in his mechanical wheel chair. When he went over to help, the man told him his daughter and her boyfriend had been keeping him locked in the garage while they went away to work.
Pottsboro PD took the couple in for questioning but has yet to file any charges. The elderly man’s family had only been living at the house for about a week.
The man was taken to an extended care facility.
