Child Dies after Jumping from ATV
7-13-05 – A 10-year-old child is dead after he jumped from the side of the ATV he was riding on Tuesday night in Love County. It is raising new questions about why Oklahoma nor Texas have ATV helmet laws.

7-13-05 – A 10-year-old child is dead after he jumped from the side of the ATV he was riding on Tuesday night in Love County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Jason Swint of Springdale, Arkansas jumped from the ATV to catch a hat that blew off his head.

Swint sustained head injuries in the fall and died in a medical helicopter, on his way to Mercy Memorial Hospital.

The driver, a 14-year-old girl from Leon, Oklahoma, was traveling south on a city street in Leon when the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m.

The ATV was driven by a 14-year-old from Leon, Oklahoma. Two other children, ages 12 and 14, were passengers. Swint was the only one injured.
