UPDATE: Sherman teen hit by car

SHERMAN, TX -- Charges are not expected to be filed in an accident involving a teenager Wednesday night.

Sherman police sergeant Stephen Dean says the 17-year-old was hit by a car as he was walking across FM-1417 from center street around 7:15. Dean says the teen was conscious at the scene.

The driver of the car, suffered minor injuries. No names have been released, police are investigating.

A teenager was hit by a car as he rode his bike across busy Sherman roadway Tuesday.

Sherman Police Sgt. Stephen Dean said the 17-year-old was crossing FM-1417 from Center street around 7:15 p.m. when he was hit by a car. The southbound lane of the highway was shut down for almost an hour.

Dean said the teen was conscious at the scene.

"He has a severe leg injury and a head injury, the other extent of it unknown at this time. They're gonna Care Flite him as a precaution and he should be fine," he said.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

No names have been released, police are investigating.
