WHITESBORO, Tex. - A meth lab is busted in Whitesboro, right across the street from a school.

Grayson County Sheriff's Deputies obtained a search warrant Tuesday afternoon. When they arrived, they say they found the workings of a meth lab, which had been operational as late as Tuesday morning.

Three people were taken into custody, two of whom were arrested.

Lieutenant Jay Whitney says charges could be more severe because of the location of the lab. “I think courts will take into advisement right across street from school and numerous kids playing in the yards on either side of this house when we first started watching it today prior to hitting it with the search warrant.”

The names of the two people arrested have not been released, but officials say the two are well known in the drug community.

legalize, let the junkies go to the health department to get thier fix: charge them $3.00 a dose, $2.00 tax fee. that will take the profit margin out of drug dealing. it works in the netherlands. they virtually have no crime rate there. wake up people! the drug war is a con job to get your tax dollars and feed the judicial machine...

Ha Ha!!! You people are funny!!! To "Get all the facts" don't make fun of peoples spelling unless you are confident in spelling yourself!!! LOL "then quite to take a better paying job" Did he quit?? Or did he quite??? Whitesboro graduate????

Posted by: Get all the Facts Location: Whitesboro on Mar 30, 2008 at 07:37 AM
What is funny here is how all the people from all over the Texoma area, first that can't spell to save their life and second have a comment about what happened in a town that they more than likely have never been to. Worry about your own NEIGHBORHOOD and leave ours alone. Another thing that is interesting is that someone can comment about a Whitesboro Officer that was terminated 4 years ago, then re-hired when he agreed to drop his wrongful termination lawsuit, then quite to take a better paying job after working back at Whitesboro for an additional year, and now works for the very agency that everyone is praising......and has for two years. Get a clue, so much ignorance out there and to many people opening their mouth before engaging their brain!

anonymous in whitesboro, you need to get your facts straight about officer Hanning. There was more to it than just firing him. As a matter of fact, he was not fired but released due to other implications. Yes, Whitesboro neeeds to get with it and offer the officers competitive pay and establish a drug program. However, when dealing with young kids, is it not the parents responsiblity to be a parent and not the school? Shouldn't a parent be more aware of what their kids are into? Just my thoughts

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Whitesboro on Mar 28, 2008 at 11:06 PM
Anonymous in Cooke County, it sounds to me that you think every thing can be fixed with a "program". Programs cost money, usally tax money. I am for rehab but not as an alternitive to punishment. You can not help an addict who does not want to help themselves. And your comments about the family and friends being a support, all good there if they are not addicts themselves. I have children who attend that school and if they were ever threatend or tempted I would be the one going to jail. I think it quite ironic that a couple of years ago Whitesboro had a police officer with a drug dog on campus but was fired and was not replaced. Way to go Whitesboro city council! My thanks to the GCSO and all persons working on this, please keep up the good work.

Cindy from Whitesboro - think about it - meth labs smell, people selling have traffic at there houses continuously, they are across from the school, most schools have on campus police trained to notice "meth lab" smells, and high traffic houses - need I spell it out to you further? OH, I guess I do - according to your post! I never said the officer would be off campus - just have eyes and a nose. I didn't call them "campus security guards" either I called them "on campus officers". Or do you need someone to read and interpret for you also?

Rehabilitation does not always mean a treatment facility. Family and support play an even bigger role in an addicts recovery. Yes, it is difficult to get someone help that does not want it. But, the whole point is to make recovery possible and available. By the way, the probation dept in Grayson and Cooke county do not always offer rehab treatment to drug offenders. And it is not mandatory either! I know this for a fact! Maybe we should make this mandatory for any drug conviction, whether they want it or not! One of the biggest problems within a drug addicts mind is DENILE. Jail is only a temporary solutiion to an ongoing problem that gets bigger everyday.

Posted by: Opinion8ed Location: on Texoma on Mar 28, 2008 at 08:27 AM
To anonymous in Cooke Co, you are right about rehab being very expensive. It should not be as difficult as it is for people to get their loved one or themselves into rehab; however, the addict must want help. Most of the people arrested for drugs start on probation, it is unususal for someone convicted of a simple possession of drugs case to go straight to prison. Probation offers them rehab - a lot of them refuse to do it and do not want help. Even when the court orders them to rehab, many refuse and just take prison instead. What can you do when the person does not want to stop?? I have a couple of addicts in my family and have seen this first hand.

LOL Night Owl.... rattle on and on... At least I got your attention! Not an expert, just well informed and trying to do the same for you. Maybe it will help you or someone else one day.... Since I am all about helping people instead of contributing to the problem.

Posted by: Night Owl Location: sherman on Mar 27, 2008 at 05:14 PM
Anonymous in Cooke County, you seem to know an awful lot about meth. Are you an expert? Do you need the help? I hear it causes people to rattle on and on and on...

Posted by: Erick Gent Location: Denison on Mar 27, 2008 at 04:06 PM
I am sure they have not released their information because they are trying to get them to roll over on others in the drug community. Don't be too surprised to see a few more busts in the next few weeks. And folks...please turn off the caps lock! Why are some of you screaming at everyone? Besides all caps is harder for viewers to read. Computer grammar people – learn it!

Posted by: Also Curious Location: Whitesboro on Mar 27, 2008 at 03:19 PM
I agree, let's see some pics.........to WHICH meth heads were caught. And, no, we don't have campus police @ that school.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Cooke County on Mar 27, 2008 at 03:10 PM
It's not sympathy... it's saving lives!!! Yes, they do teach about drugs and drug use, but what about seeking help? Why is seeking help so costly? What if you just happen to try it and get hooked? We all make mistakes, why should we have to pay with our lives? We as a society need to do more. I am all for punishing the wrong doers. But, without a program to help them with their addiction and a society to support them, they will just continue the cyle. One person goes to jail and another takes their place. You would be surprised at just how close meth addiction is to EVERY family. We need to solve the problem, not make more! For those of you who think rehabilitation and support don't work.... it does. Gotaclue- you ARE clueless! I'm not just talking about dealers... addicts in general. I do applaud the GCSO for doing their job, but we need to do more than just lock them away. And by the way, why didn't they release their names & pics?? They do others who get caught.

Posted by: Cindy Location: Whitesboro on Mar 27, 2008 at 02:19 PM
Karen-from OKLAHOMA-what could a Campus Security guard do "off campus" We aren't to that point of having to have Cops at school-maybe your town is. Speaking of not the brighest crayon in the box! D.A. Okie

IF THEY ARE WELL KNOWN WE WANT TO SEE THE PICTURES THAT WAY IF WE SEE THEM SOMEWHERE AND THEY ARE DOING WRONG WE CAN CALL IT IN OR ARE THESE PEOPLE A COP OR FIGHTFIGHTERS OR LAWYERS WHAT COME ON WE WANT PICS

Posted by: Opinion8ed Location: on Texoma on Mar 27, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Congratulations to the GCSO! Keep up the good work! Maybe they'll end up in prison or will at least avoid you by leaving this county!

Posted by: CURIOUS Location: WHITESBORO on Mar 27, 2008 at 12:41 PM
SO EXACTLY WHEN ARE WE GOING TO PUT THESE 2 DISGRACEFUL IDIOTS PICTURES ON THE WEB/TV SO EVERYONE KNOWS WHO THE "WELL KNOWN DRUG DEALERS" REALLY ARE????

Posted by: Mork Location: Ork on Mar 27, 2008 at 12:39 PM
In response to the signs of a meth user - if you nabor is up dusting her light bulbs at 03:00 am - she might be a methhead. If you cousin decides to overhaul his camero at 1:45 am - he might be a methhead. Please remember the word "might" - I wouldn't want to accuse all nightowls of doing drugs. Here's your sign!

Posted by: Gotaclue Location: Reality on Mar 27, 2008 at 12:36 PM
I know a lot of people who are meth/script drug/alcohol users. You either have the guts to get off and stay off or you don't! It's that simple. You can analyze all day but that's the truth. And as for the dealers I have NO SYMPATHY! They can rot whether they are my friends, my family or GOD'S CHILDREN. And anonymous from Cooke County you are the one with NO CLUE! Everyone with a brain knows the dangers of drugs starting from a very early age. They teach it in our schools. They hear it on TV, radio, magazines. My lord-- you would have to be a hermit to not know that DRUGS ARE BAD! IT'S A CHOICE! You make the choice to start and You can make the choice to STOP. Quit babying everyone who plays the sympathy card. Make these people responsible for their actions. You are pathetic - Cry me a River!!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Cooke County on Mar 27, 2008 at 11:42 AM
For all of you out there that don't have a clue about meth: All meth users are not the obvious junkie. Yeah some meth users show signs... rotten teeth, sunkin faces, dirty hair, skinny... But most meth users show no obvious signs. They are our neighbor, store clerk, moms, dads, and yes, even our innocent children. How do you think users pay for there drugs? Not all drug users steal or sell drugs. They have jobs! Once someone has tried this drug they are usually hooked. They go from trying it, to gotta have it. It is so powerful. We need to educate people about its dangers. These are all Gods children. Every life is worth something. These are human beings. No sick animals. These are mentally/phisically sick individuals who desperately need help. Just remember when you are talking about meth users that this could be your own child and not even know it! Then would you be so quick to lock them away forever or send them to their demise? We need to FIX this epidemic before it is too late!!!

Posted by: Horton Location: Whoville on Mar 27, 2008 at 10:53 AM
OK. Here's another idea for all you bleeding hearts who think you can fix everything with rehab. Let's place a device on the meth head (any addict)so if they USE they get a little shock. But if they continue to use the shock gets more intense and over a specified period of time they eventually meet there demise. We don't have to house or feed them. They live on their own and can even have a job. How's that?? They are killing themselves slowly anyway...right? But this way you are punished immediately for your stupidity. Live or Die? Now it really would be their choice...

Posted by: KAREN Location: OKLAHOMA on Mar 27, 2008 at 09:43 AM
Wow!! A meth lab across the street from a school - does that campus have an on campus officer? Not the brightest crayon in the box. I agree with the persons who say that addiction (to anything) is a choice - not a disease.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Cooke County on Mar 27, 2008 at 08:27 AM
Again, unless you have been in their shoes, you do not know how bad this drug is. The reason we have such an epidemic is because people want to sweep the problem under the rug! Rehab and education does work! Just because a child is born addicted to drugs does not make them a drug user. Yes, they go through the drug withdrawls, but they certainly don't spend their life getting over the addiction. Their addiction is short served and thank God they don't remember! I do believe Meth Addiction is a disease. And, just because you lock them away from temptation does not mean they won't get out and continue to go back to their old ways. Jail time is not rehab... it is punishment. Yes, they should have consequences for their actions, but we need to do more to make sure we are not throwing an addict back on the streets to repeat their actions. Anyone who thinks just putting them in jail is going to fix our nations meth problem is ignorant to the real problem. Meth is a powerful drug!

Posted by: Cindy Location: Area on Mar 27, 2008 at 08:17 AM
What are their names? Why is it a secret?

Posted by: Horton Location: Whoville on Mar 27, 2008 at 07:21 AM
I have been around addicts all my life. Have a few in my own family. No one can help them unless they REALLY want to be helped. And 9 times out of 10 addicts only want help when they get caught. Sadly but in most cases - ONCE A JUNKY - ALWAYS A JUNKY. If you continue to go back to your using days over and over after being helped over and over then you lose my sympathy. Most addicts are going to continue to be addicts no matter what - it's in their blood and there's not a thing a preacher, teacher, councelor or parent or jail can do for them. They feed off your kindness, say what you want to hear and stab you in the back the first chance they get. I say send'em to Iraq. Make them fight for their lives and see just how good they could have had it.

Posted by: Liberal Democrat Location: Sherman on Mar 26, 2008 at 08:27 PM
It's funny how you bring politics into this. It has nothing to do with that. You were right about one thing though. Drug use is a choice but there are people that get help and get straight. Oh and TxTopCop one more thing, you must be one of the republican idiots that put Bush in the White House...Way to go on that one!

Posted by: me Location: sherman on Mar 26, 2008 at 08:12 PM
If they wanted help, they could have gotten it. NO they do not want help, they want to make the dope for MONEY. Some people make it and do not use it, ever thought about that? They deserve to go to jail, they know what they are doing is against the law and it's a nasty drug to be floating around school zones. Lock them up!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: cooke county on Mar 26, 2008 at 05:47 PM
Youre both wrong in a way. Some people are born addicted to drugs and spend most of their lives getting over it. You can thank their mothers' for that one. Its because they used meth when they were pregnt. And if the rehab is right for the person; it'll work, but only if the person wants it to. Oh and people dont usually want your help till its too late.

Posted by: TxTopCop Location: Sherman on Mar 26, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Anonymous in Cooke County, you could not be more incorrect. It is not a disease, it is a choice. They chose to manufacture and use meth, and they chose to sell it to others. Education and rehab DO NOT WORK. They'll be right back out doing the same thing again. We can fight the addiction by putting them in jail away from the meth and the temptation. You must be a liberal democrat, because a normal sane person would say or believe your comments.

Posted by: JS Location: Lake Texoma on Mar 26, 2008 at 03:06 PM
I'm glad they got those fools, most of the drug dealer and cookers are to lazy to get a real job. Their looking for the quick score and the whole community has to pay the price. If they just keep getting out of jail and selling again, they need a new city law that kicks them out of town not allowing them to live there again. Its no good for anyone to have them in towm. Using drugs is one thing, making them and selling is another, and by a school, the law is not working. They should take their house and sell it, why do the people that live by them put up with it?

Posted by: HERE Location: GONE on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:07 PM
THEY ARE WILL KNOWN IN THE DRUG COMMUNITY WELL SEEMS THAT THESE PEOPLE GET PUT IN JAIL AND THEN LET BACK OUT AND WHAT ARE THERE NAMES

Posted by: anonymous Location: Cooke County on Mar 26, 2008 at 12:39 PM
These "idiots" are so "stupid" because they have a disease. They need help! Locking them away is not the answer. We have to do more. Educate and rehab. These people are under the influence of the most powerful substance you can imagine. It eats away at their very core, turning them into people even they don't recognize. People are not born drug addicts, they become them. We need to do more to help fight the addiction as well as the problem. If not, the problem will just continue. People can be reabilitated. We can do more than just throw away the key. These people are HUMAN BEINGS! Every life is worth saving. These individuals are someones brother, sister, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, ect. If you ask them, they would probably tell you they wanted/needed HELP!! WE NEED TO DO MORE!!!

This shows how brazenly stupid the fried brainless meth heads are. I guess they thought if they did it in broad daylight across from a school they would never get caught! Way to go Grayson County Sheriff Deputies, you don't get paid enough for what you do!
