DURANT, Okla. -- The housing market might be down across the country, but it’s stronger than ever in Oklahoma. State officials have announced home values in Texoma have increased by 4.2% over the past year.

On Thursday, a representative from the Oklahoma Association of Realtors spoke to a group in Durant about the good news. Officials say the average price of a home in Texoma is just over $100,000, and they hope this affordable trend continues.

"We want to spread the word that it is a good thing here in Oklahoma that real estate is still a good thing to invest in and it’s a good place to spend your money," Texoma Board of Realtors president Mona Campbell says.

The price of a home in southeastern Oklahoma has increased by 27% over the past year.

I'm glad incomes have also gone up 27% in the last year. Hasn't yours?

Homeowner, the 4.2% was about Texoma in general, and the 27% was about southeastern Oklahoma specifically.

How can you have a 27% price increase in one sentence and a 4.2% increase in another?
